Every project starts with a proper map of your home — not a guess. Before any remedy is discussed, we locate the true shape of the space and where it sits in the world, because getting this first step right is what makes every choice that follows obvious.
Nine Areas Analysis
With the map complete, we read your home's nine areas by compass — career, family, wealth, health, and more — and identify exactly where attention is needed first.

Nine areas. One compass. A home fully understood.
In Feng Shui, we divide the home into nine key areas using a compass — the most accessible to find first are North and South. Take off any jewellery before you take a reading, as it can affect the magnet inside. The Centre is the exception: it isn't found on a compass at all, it's simply the central point of the home. Elements & Remedies
Eight chapters. Every remedy, straight from the guide.
Fire
A powerful remedy that attracts passion, fame and clients. It burns through the negative energy that is flowing in that area of your home. It can also light up that area.
- How much to add
- 5-6 smaller items per area, or 1-2 larger items such as a rug or a throw.
- Adding fire
- We introduce fire subtly — only a small amount of red, since too much can create stress and anxiety rather than warmth. In bedrooms, kitchens, and dining rooms we use it especially sparingly, often hidden discreetly, and always placed on every floor of the home. We keep metal, water, and earth colours out of any area carrying fire.
- 1.We layer fire in through pictures, cushions, throws, and small details like diffusers or candles.
- 2.A scarf tied around a staircase newel or wardrobe door is often all it takes.
- 3.A folded rug on a shelf or draped over furniture works just as well.

Earth
It creates stability and security in relationships and business and it has grounding qualities as well.

- Adding earth
- We keep the earth element breathing, never sealed away, and placed on every floor of the home. Any area calling for earth stays clear of plants, and of green, white, gold, silver, or pastel tones.
- 1.Stones, sand, or shells in a glass vessel are our simplest way to bring earth into a room.
- 2.Crystals, placed with intention.
Metal
This is the most powerful remedy out of all the elements as it cuts through all the negative energy in the home. Adding metal assists with health, wealth and love.
- Adding metal
- Metal needs to breathe, so we never seal it in plastic. It can sit hidden under sofas, wardrobes, and cabinets — never under a bed — often tucked into a basket and half-covered with a throw, so long as it can still breathe. Before it enters the home, we cleanse it outside overnight. Any area carrying metal stays free of red.
- 1.Uncoated weights, metal furniture, reclaimed scrap metal, sculptures, and even kitchen appliances all qualify.
- 2.We often source pieces from marketplaces and secondhand finds — it's surprising what turns up.
- 3.A local mechanic or steel merchant is sometimes the quickest route to the right piece.
Moving Metal
Moving metal is used to cut through the negative energy that is flowing through your home and by adding moving metal it continuously activates the power of the metal.
- Adding metal
- We keep it moving around the clock, and it doesn't need to sit directly beside the metal element itself.
- 1.Our simplest option is a small clock — three hands, open-faced, and never behind glass or plastic.
- 2.Clock mechanisms like this are easy enough to source when needed.
Water
Water is used to create a flow of wealth, prosperity and abundance so it is really important. It also cleanses and purifies to allow for emotions and love to bloom.
- Adding internal water
- Internal water needs to stay breathing and moving around the clock, placed on every floor of the home — with one exception: in a bedroom, it can be switched off overnight if the sound is disruptive.
- 1.We bring water in through a water feature, a pet water fountain, a fish tank, or a pumped vase or jug — always at least a litre, always moving.
- 2.Household plumbing — sinks, showers, tanks, washing machines — doesn't count as a water remedy.
- 3.Where a real water feature isn't possible, a picture of flowing water is our fallback — though we'll always recommend the real thing first.
Wood
The wood element basically means adding plants and it is used to encourage new life, growth, expansion, creativity and health.

- Wood means plants — kept breathing, placed on every floor of the home. In a bedroom, we keep it to something small.
- 1.We steer away from artificial plants and cacti, since their sharp edges work against the softness this element is meant to bring.
- 2.Jade plants (also known as money plants), lucky bamboo, and ferns are our favourites — though any upward-growing, leafy plant will do.
Red Earth
Red Earth is used for grounding and is so easy to add. This is a mixture of Fire and Earth.

- Adding red earth
- Uncoated terracotta is our usual route, or a salt lamp — though we always protect the furniture beneath one, since they can weep over time.
- 1.An uncoated terracotta plant pot works beautifully left on display.
- 2.A roof tile or brick tucks away easily beneath a piece of furniture.
Salt Lamps & Cures
Salt Lamps or Salt Cures can be added as an extra way of soaking up negative energy. They featured a lot in 2024 due to the tricky energies coming our way.
- Adding salt lamps & cures
- We handle these with real care — salt lamps and cures 'weep' as they work, and that liquid carries all the negative energy they've drawn in. It's kept well clear of skin, floors, and furniture. Our own preference is a salt lamp, set on a terracotta plate to catch anything that seeps out.
